For convenience, throughout this Privacy Policy “Advance.” will be taken to refer to Advance Mercantile & Investigations Pty Limited.

Advance has respect for the privacy of individuals. It will treat all personal information as confidential and by handling it in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 and the National Privacy Principles.

During the course of its activities, Advance will collect, record, use and disclose personal information about natural persons who are:-

a customer of Advance or a director of a company that is a customer of Advance;

   
a debtor, guarantor or referee of an Advance customer or supplier;
   
a contractor or supplier of goods and services to Advance; or
   
a solicitor or other professional consultant engaged by Advance.

Mostly, information comes direct from the persons or from their agents or intermediaries. Sometimes, it comes from third parties with a connection to the person. The type of information collected will vary considerably depending on the nature of the arrangements with Advance and the person's connection with the arrangements. It may include information about –

name, address and contract details;
   
date of birth, driver's licence particulars etc;
   
employment and/or business history; and
   
financial circumstances, income and history.

As an example, if you contact Advance by email or by leaving information about you on this web site we will use your email address, contact details or other information as provided, to respond to your request and/or provide the information or services requested.

The purpose for which the information is collected, as well as its nature can result in some personal information being disclosed to parties outside of Advance but only where there is a valid reason for that to happen or as necessary to carry out our business and as required by law or other legislative or legal processes.

External parties to whom information may be disclosed include (but are not limited to) –

auditors, solicitors, and other professional consultants;

   

suppliers, insurers, repairers and contractors;

 

 

trade, commercial and/or mercantile agents and auctioneers;

 

 

insolvency practitioners such as Administrators, Receivers, Liquidators;

 

 

insurers, insurance brokers, insurance assessors and inspection agents;

 

 

vehicle registration authorities, motor clubs; and

 

 

Government Departments or Agencies (where required or authorized by Law).

Advance is committed to keeping any information held in a safe and secure environment and ensures all its staff who have access to information are aware of their obligations to the security and use of such information. As a matter of course, Advance will require anyone to whom personal information is made available to respect the privacy of the person to whom it relates.
